Saint Anthony of Padua was born
in Lisbon in 1195.
When he was baptized he was given the name Ferdinand.

His parents wanted him to grow
up and be a great nobleman.
When he saw the bodys of the first Franciscan
martyrs he was inspired to become a
Fraciscan priest.
